This was supposed to be the year the Fighting Irish made a comeback on the national scene. Those hopes went up in flames in a game one loss at home to South Florida. They letdown again in Week 2, suffering back-to-back defeats to open the season. After that they were written off by pundits and bettors alike. But, they have quietly rebounded to go 7-1 since. The offense has provided a lot of firepower of late as the Irish are putting up over 38 points per game in their last five and twice have topped the 50-point mark. Boston College is simply not used to struggling and this year has been a nightmare for the Eagles. They have beaten only Maryland and NC State on their FBS schedule of teams. The offense has been held to less than 20 points in eight of their games, and it is wearing down a defense that wasadequate, but not good when forced to be on the field so much. Boston College has now surrendered 30+ in three of their last five games and the Irish, with a hot offense, will certainly find the end zone frequently. Play on Notre Dame.
