Boise State enters this season as my No. 1 ranked team. This is a huge game for both teams for obvious reasons. Boise State has enough talent to be in the National Championship but they absolutely need a win here to keep that dream alive. Virginia Tech is loaded as well, so it should be a fun game to watch. The Broncos have just about everything back from a year ago including 10 starters on both offense and defense. Last year's team really defended the top teams on their schedule. They held a huge offense in Oregon to 8 points they and won their Bowl game vs. another big offense in TCU, holding the Horned Frogs to just 10 points. I expect them to come up big on the defensive side of the ball once again given what is on the line for them. The Broncos catch a lot of flack for weak schedule but they take care of business in big games. They simply do what is asked of them, even vs. top-level competition. They took care of Oklahoma in their Bowl game a few years back and last season they went 14-0 and beat the #3 ranked team in the country in their Bowl game. What else can you ask for? Kellen Moore is as good as they come. In two seasons, he is 26-1, having thrown for over 7000 yards with a TD to INT ratio of 64:13. They are also 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games. While Frank beamer has a better offense, his defense is always tough. When playing a BCS Conference schedule, Virginia Tech has only allowed four teams to score more than 30 points against them in six years. Under Chris Petersen, the Broncos are 6-0 UNDER in expected close games (line of +3 to -3). I like Boise State and the UNDER here.
