Appalachian State at Coastal Carolina

Appalachian State's defense is #11 in the country in yards allowed (300.6 per game) and #16 in points allowed (18.3 per game) and it is 5-2 UNDER this season. As what often happens, a team that just entered the top 25 for the first time in a while lost its next game and that's what happened to the Mountaineers when they lost to Georgia Southern 34-14 while being outyarded 339-288. Two quarterbacks, Peyton Derrick and Jacob Huesman, combined for only 11-of-26 for 140 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions and the Mountaineers had their lowest point total of the season. Coastal Carolina beat Georgia State 37-34 coming from behind and outscoring the Panthers 10-0 in the fourth quarter. Freshman QB Fred Payton went 12-of-17 for 22 yards and a touchdown for the Chanticleers and he likely will get the start this week as Kilton Anderson is questionable with an ankle injury. The Mountaineers have stayed UNDER five of its last seven games against teams with winning records and they have allowed only 164.7 passing yards per game, which is good for #7 in the nation.
