Here comes Alabama again, seemingly playing for the title every January. They are playing in their third straight College Football Playoff Championship game while seeking their fifth national title in nine years under coach Nick Saban. They ran the table last season until the final play when Clemson stunned them. Now this experienced championship pedigree has a shot at redemption. While Bama is used to this, Georgia hasn't been in a spot to win a national title since 1980, so this is all new to their fans, players and coaching staff. Last year's Bulldogs team had five losses and lost this season to Auburn, 40-7. They are fortunate to be here, surviving a wild double-overtime thriller last week against Oklahoma, 54-48. Georgia is one-dimensional on offense as the passing game ranked #110 in the nation. The Bulldogs are 4-11 ATS after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. They run the football behind the senior duo of Nick Chubb (1,320 yards) and Sony Michel (1,129), but run into a dominant Alabama defensive line that led the nation in rushing defense at 91.8 yards per game. The Crimson Tide have better balance on an offense that averaged 37.9 points, including a Top 10 rushing attack. QB Jalen Hurts (17 TDs, one pick) has great targets to throw to, plus he ran for 808 yards. Alabama easily dispatched top-seeded Clemson last week, 24-6, and limited the Tigers to 64 rushing yards on 33 attempts. The Crimson Tide held the Tigers to 188 total yards and two field goals. Saban is 19-10 ATS in games played on turf and 21-11 ATS against powerhouse defensive teams that give up 17 or fewer points per contest. The Crimson Tide are also 6-0 straight-up in the Georgia capital overall since 2014. Alabama will win this one and cover with ease. Play Alabama.
