Akron at Miami Ohio

Akron used its third quarterback of the season last week and finally found the right guy in freshman Zach Gibson. Akron trailed 13-7 at the half, but Gibson played the second half and led the Zips to a 35-20 comeback victory. After getting minus-14 yards in their first four drives, Akron finished with 387 yards as Gibson was 14-of-15 passing. Akron has covered six of eight against teams with losing home marks. Miami of Ohio is a huge favorite, but it hasn't had much offense averaging 20 points in two MAC games. Last week they were a 3-point favorite over Eastern Michigan and lost 13-12. Akron has covered four straight in this stadium, including a 20-17 game two years ago. The Zips look much better with this new quarterback while Miami is #86 in the nation in offensive yards, #81 on third down (.375), and #109 in points (18 per game). Play Akron.
