Air Force comes off a bye week after beating Georgia State 48-14 for a 2-0 start. Now the Falcons go to Utah State with an improved defense that is allowing an average 17.5 points per game as they return eight starters from last year's squad. Air Force held Georgia State to six first downs and just 1.9 yards per rush and the Panthers managed only 169 total offense yards. As usual, the Falcons ate up clock with 83 carries and passed only nine times, completing three of them. Quarterback Nate Romine was the leading rusher with 124 yards on 20 carries and D.J. Johnson added 76 yards on 20 attempts. The Falcons are #15 in the nation in yards per game allowed. Utah State is #44 in yards allowed while allowing 23.7 points per game and has two wins against Weber State and Arkansas State sandwiched around a loss at USC. The Aggies defense held Arkansas State to 70 yards on the ground on 2.3 yards per carry and the Red Wolves were only 2 of 12 on third downs. Kent Myers was 11-of-25 for 136 yards with a touchdown and interception but it was the running game that carried the Aggies to the win. Utah State has gone UNDER in 25 of its last 37 games after a win and Air Force has stayed UNDER in nine of its last 12 after scoring 40-plus points. This matchup features two teams with decent defenses and a lot of running plays. This one stays UNDER.
