The Moccasins last saw Tournament action in '97 when they busted everybody’s brackets with upsets over Georgia and Illinois to reach the Sweet 16. A repeat, not likely as they battle Wake Forest Demon Deacons, a deep and balanced team. Off a loss to N.C. State in the ACC tournament Deacons will certainly be motivated and the return of Chris Paul (14.9 PPG) complementing leading scorer Justin Gray (16.3 PPG) and center Eric Williams (16.0 PPG) can only spell trouble for Mocs as they face the Nations third best offense at 85.4 points/game. Wake is handing a ton of points in the contest however with Gray averaging 19 points in the past four games, Eric Williams scoring double digits in 15 straight games and Paul shooting almost 50% from outside Wake crushes as they prove doubters they should have been a #1 seed. If your into big favs who can get the job done Deacons look promising. Wake whipped Mocs by 28 in the '93 NCAA Tournament and we find Deacons 3-1 against-the-number last four laying 15-20 points. We'll keep this at one star given the large number.
