The UAB Blazers took a lot of hits from a 22-win NCAA Tournament team a year ago, and have struggled to a 2-6 mark. Virginia Commonwealth was a true Cinderella last year, becoming the first five-win NCAA Tournament team not to be playing in the Championship game, because one of the wins was a play-in game vs. USC. The Rams aren't the caliber they were a season ago, but are off to a respectable 7-3 start. Don't take too much stock in UAB’s 2-6 record, this team still has talent. They have played Murray State who is 12-0, Creighton who is 9-1 and Middle Tennessee who beat UCLA. The three games vs. teams that are 31-2 the Blazers are 1-2 and, but have lost by no more than 10 points, so they are certainly capable of hanging around here. They are also 15-4-2 ATS in their last 21 on the road, while the Rams are just 6-13 ATS in their last 19 at home. Play on UAB.
