Samford will bring its 6-0 Ohio Valley Conference mark into tonight's contest to face Tennessee State. Samford has won three times on the OVC road already and Tennessee State is really struggling dropping four straight. Tennessee State was expected to be improved this year, with the return of Bruce Price who averaged 19.3-points per game (PPG), in six games before blowing out his knee. The recovery has been slow and his return is not expected until sometime in February. They also anticipated major contributions from Mississippi State transfer Jerrell Houston for eligibility issues, has left Tennessee State void of scorers, shooters and as a team they average a woeful 38% and rank #324 among all NCAA schools. Tennessee State has just five wins - all at home. The five wins are against schools that are a combined 6-37 on the road and the wins were by 2, 3, 3, 7 and 11-points. It will take something out-of-the-ordinary for this team to win a game. Towson shot 24% and only lost by 2. Prairie View (0-12 on the road) shot just 28%. Tennessee State shot way over their head at 50% over Ball Sate and 49% in a 3-point win over Southeast Missouri Sate. Samford is a much better team, much more disciplined and we expect them to go to 7-0 in the OVC tonight.
