Mississippi State vs. Texas

The Texas Longhorns were embarrassed by Chaminade in a game that in reality wasn't even close as they lost 86-73. Texas has had some strong teams in recent years, but this does not appear to be one of them, struggling to a 2-2 mark on the season. Probably the most revealing thing of all is their struggles on offense against teams they should be scoring at will against. They produced 73 vs. Chaminade, 55 vs. Fresno State, just 69 vs. Coppin State, and in overtime vs. USC they scored just 53. Mississippi State suffered a 3-point loss to Troy, and they have had the same problem trying to find some chemistry on offense. They managed a combined 111 points vs. Marquette, and North Carolina. Usually Texas would be mentioned in the same breath with those teams, but that is not the case from what we have seen from the Horns so far this season. Both of these teams lack offense, taking them deeper into the shot clock, and that sets up fewer possessions and a shortened game. Giving double-digits in this kind of setup is going to be a tall order for the Horns to reach. This is a low-scoring game that should allow Miss St. to stay within an inflated number. Play on Miss St. and take the UNDER.
