Minnesota vs. SMU

Southern Methodist is the sexy team playing int he NIT finals, and the one that most thought should have been in the NCAA tournament. They were rewarded with three straight home games to get to the finals. They spent a lot of energy in the semifinal against Clemson with a huge late rally win to get into the final. Minnesota may have started to celebrate too early against Florida State, blowing a big lead, and had to get the win in overtime. The edge here is the fact that Minnesota played in the toughest conference in the land, as three Big-10 teams made it to the Elite 8. SMU was held out of the NCAA tournament because their schedule was highly suspect, so the gaudy record is a bit tainted. The Mustangs excel at home, but their neutral-site mark in their last 29 is a horrid 6-22-1 ATS. The Gophers have more than held their own against elite opponents at 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. a team over .600. Grab the points and play on Minnesota.
