Penn St. has the slight edge in many areas when matching up against Minnesota. The Nittany Lions have not lost a game ATS in their last 3 played, while Minnesota has only 1 win SU in their last 8. When looking ATS for the season, Minnesota is 2-4 when away and PSU is 3-2-1 at home. This season, PSU is averaging 70ppg and giving up 69ppg while Minn is averaging 67ppg and giving up 65ppg. All of the stats above, including home court advantage is where most people would think the line comes from. When a closer look is taken though at the home vs. away stats, we see that when PSU is home, they are playing stronger defense and giving up just 66ppg, while Minnesota is letting up almost 78ppg when they are away. To add to that, the Gophers are hardly scoring 64ppg when away and PSU is averaging over 75ppg. Most of the reasons for this is PSU shoots about 48% at home and Minny is shooting just over 38% away. PSU is going to be able to move the basketball up and down the court and get quality shots vs a poor Minn. team in this one. Give the small number and take PSU for three stars.
