Michigan at Villanova

All the excitement this March has been about the shocking upsets, but now that we get to the title game there is still a No. 1 seed standing in Villanova. They were champs two years ago. They face a Michigan team today that got hot late, but this is a super-tough matchup for the Wolverines. Michigan finished eighth in the Big 10 in scoring and #12 from the charity stripe (66.2%). They squeezed out wins over Houston and Florida State, then looked shaky against Loyola-Chicago the last game as the offense shot 42.4% and missed six free throws (66.7%). Their starting guards were a combined 9-of-29, including 1-10 from long range. As a team they were 7-of-28 from area code 3, and that won't cut it against mighty Villanova. Since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, Villanova is the fifth team to win its first five games by double digits. Villanova is 26-12-1 against the spread and is the top scoring team in the nation (86.8 points per game). The Wildcats set a Final Four record with 18 three-pointers in Saturday's semifinal victory over Kansas (95-79) and have made at least 13 3s in four of their five wins in this event.
