Miami (11-3) is already 2-0 in the ACC and plays Maryland tonight in the Hurricanes’ ACC home opener. The Hurricanes are 6-0 at the Bank United Center where they have shot better than 45% from the field in every game. Miami’s non-conference strength of schedule is No. 2 and RPI is No. 6. Into town comes Maryland, a team that just ended a long nine-game home stand and comes off a loss to Florida State, 65-62, as 6-point chalk (they are 1-1 on the road). It was a tough loss, blowing a 9-point halftime lead and they slipped despite holding FSU to .367% shooting for the game. Cold shooting (36.7%) and 18 turnovers killed them. Miami has won three in a row, including as a +4 dog the last game at North Carolina, a 68-59 romp. Miami Head coach Jim Larrañaga is in his 29th season as a head coach and second at Miami. He has a 501-350 overall record and is 31-16 in his second season at Miami, so this team is disciplined, well coached and confident. The Canes are also 9-4 against the Terrapins at home. Go with Miami on the moneyline.
