Manhattan at Saint Mary's

Manhattan is playing its first game and is picked to finish in the upper third of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference even though the Jaspers lost three starters. Also, 6-10 Jermaine Lawrence is ineligible until January. Saint Mary's beat San Francisco State 80-56 as Emmett Naar poured in 27 points and Dane Pineau pulled down 11 rebounds. The Gaels have a young roster with no seniors and two juniors, but recruited some solid transfers, including Joe Rahon from Boston College. Rahon played 29 minutes in Friday's game and contributed eight points and eight assists. The Gaels shot 49.2 percent from the field. This is a long trip for a rebuilding Manhattan squad against the young but still talented Gaels. Play Saint Mary's.
