Hofstra vs. Dayton

Anthony Grant takes over as Dayton coach and the Flyers escaped with a 78-77 win over Ball State in their season opener.  Josh Cunnngham scored a team-leading 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Darrell Davis added 16 points as the Flyers shot 48.3 percent from the field. Hofstra opened with two wins over Army and Kennesaw State and is picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride returns three starters, but are looking for a point guard to manage the team. Kennesaw State shot just 29.7 percent and Hofstra had just two players in double figures with Justin Wright-Foreman scoring 16 points and Rokas Gustys adding 14 against the Owls.
