George Mason at Rhode Island

George Mason has been a fixture at or near the top of the Colonial Conference for years, and that hasn't changed under Paul Hewitt. George Mason won 24 games a year ago, and they won't be far from the top of the Colonial once again. Ryan Pearson is gone, paving the way for Sherrod White who has elevated his game to 15 points per game. The Patriots are always strong on the defensive end where they have held five of six teams to 61 points or less. The Patriots always come out with defensive fire, and their six opponents have averaged just 25.3 first half points. Rhode Island has had some very good teams in recent years, but the program is on a down turn, off to a 1-5 start. They have slowed things down to the point of scoring 58 or less in five of their six games. George Mason simply has too much talent for the Rams to stay in touch for 40 minutes. I expect a defensive effort as usual from the Patriots in the first 20 minutes, and a methodical Rams’ attack. Play this one on George Mason, as well as the first half UNDER.
