Elon at Georgia

Elon was supposed to be the doormat in the Southern Conference this year but some big surprises have seen them play at a much higher level early. A forgotten Montell Wilson, a fifth-year SR. that sat out last year with an injury is suddenly putting up 15 points a game. Freshman Chris Long is putting up 11.3-ppg while shooting 65%, and draining 3's. Adam Constantine, who barely saw action last year is suddenly a double-double guy and Ola Atoyebi has also emerged as a double-digit scorer while pulling down 7.3-rpg. The bottom line is this team is much deeper and certainly much improved over a year ago. Georgia was hoping that Mike Mercer, who had knee surgery, would come back and make an immediate impact. The problem is he is now suspended for violating team rules and will be gone until the end of January. Then there is the saga of Billy Humphery, who was arrested for possession of a weapon on school grounds. He was the leading three-point shooter for the Bulldogs. Then there is 6'-10" 260lb. Albert Jackson. He is also suspended for violating team rules. This is a team in disarray right now. With a big game looming this weekend at Wisconsin and the Holiday in sight, we are not sure where their focus will be. We like Elon to score enough to stay in this one and will take the bushel of points.
