Elon snuck up on a lot of teams last year, but not this time around. It may be Davidson sneaking up on teams. Davidson has lost 5 of its top 6 scorers, and have been predicted to finish low in the conference this season. So what happens? Freshman Stephen Curry (Dell Curry's son), comes in and becomes an immediate impact player. Curry is averaging 20 ppg. Then there are Sanders and Richards who combined to average 11 ppg last year, but are both at 14 this year, another 17 ppg upgrade. Throw in the two holdovers and another double digit scoring Freshman, and this team is right back to where they were, on their way to another 20 win season. They are not deep, which is another reason we like them in a high lined game, because they will keep the talent on the floor. Elon had pinned its hopes on Chris Chalko their top returning scorer at 12.6 ppg, but he has tailed off miserably averaging just 6.6 ppg. Elon has not shot the ball well (just 40%) and not defending at all 50% against, not a very good combination to take on the road.
