Steve Lavin will be back on the sidelines at St. John's after battling prostate cancer a year ago. They also will celebrate the return of D'Angelo Harrison and his 17.4 points per game. The Red Storm won 21 games under Lavin two years ago. He has some leftover talent, some role players to step up, and some prized newcomers, so St. John's has enough ingredients in the pot to surprise early. Detroit made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999 last year. This team is stacked at the guard position, but their Achilles heel could be at the forward spots, and that is where St. John's will have the decided advantage in this one. The Titans have served themselves well in conference play, but stand at just 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 played outside the conference. St. John's gets the call in this one.
