Denver heads out on the road and that's not a good thing. The Pioneers are 10-29 ATS in their last 39 road games. They take on an experienced Iona team with four key returning starters in senior Lamont Jones, junior Armand and seniors Nyandigisi Moikobu and Taaj Ridley. Jones and Armand were named Preseason All-MAAC by the league's 10 head coaches. Jones was selected to the First Team, and both are the Gaels’ top returning scorers. Jones finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game. The average was good for No. 6 in the MAAC. He shot 45.9% from the field and drained 53 three-point field goals, second best on the squad. Armand had a breakout sophomore campaign and was fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.5 points per game. He emerged as one of the top deep threats in the NCAA, connecting on 79-of-171 three-point field goal attempts - a 46.2% conversion rate. The percentage was tops among MAAC sharpshooters with 50 or more three pointers. His overall field goal percentage of 47.6% was No. 11 in the league. Home court and experience will make this a one-sided opener. Play on Iona.
