Denver is discovering that the loss of graduating do-everything big man Yemi Nicholson has affected them in more ways than one. He dominated in the post, changed shots, and got the hoops when the offense stalled. It led to a 22-2 record the past two years at Magness Arena. Denver still struggled on the road, but the evidence of his loss is quite clear. They have already lost more home games this year than they did all of the last two years as they are 1-4. They have been bad on the road, starting 1-10. Eight of the 10 losses have been by double digits and when your missing that go-to guy and shooting 39%, games get away from you. The defense which used to funnel everyone into the middle has to learn all over again, and the lessons have been cruel, allowing 48% FG shooting and 42% from 3. Arkansas Little Rock beat Minnesota last week in Minnesota, and came home and stumbled in the aftermath to Belmont. This is the best team in the Sun Belt West, and at home vs a struggling opponent should run away with it.
