Davidson at North Carolina State

Davidson has sure gotten noticed, as they went 29-5 last year before bowing out to Maryland in the NCAA tournament. With everyone back this year expectations are high, but the results against the major-conference teams are the same. Among last year’s five losses was the NCAA tourney loss to MD by 12, Duke by 28, Missouri by six and Michigan by 10. This year is more of the same, as they have dropped games to NC, Duke, UCLA, Charlotte and Western Michigan. This is a good team, but not quite good enough and it has become quite obvious, if they played in a major conference they would really struggle. In the last year, plus the early going this season they are 0-9 in such games. North Carolina State really came to life at the end of last season beating Duke, NC, Virginia Tech three times, Wake Forest and Virginia. Most of what was contributed to those wins is back, and now that Davidson has established themselves as a dangerous team, the surprise is gone. NC State certainly has the talent and depth to win this one, and with the aggressive schedule that Davidson has faced in the early going, with no wins to show for it, has to be getting in their heads right about now. We look for NC State to win this one.
