It appeared that Charleston was on its way to getting back into the NCAA tournament when Bobby Cremins was hired to take over. It hasn't gone quite according to plan as they will enter this game just 9-7. The biggest problem has been shooting. Charleston shoots just 43%, and gives up 42%. The problems are more specific than that. The guards just have not been able to provide any outside consistency. Leading scorer Dontaye Draper (15.6 ppg), is shooting just 35.7%. Marcus Hammond is shooting just 33.7%, and Tony White 33.3%. That has spelled trouble against a zone, which Citadel will apply, as they can't get the scoring from the big guys up-front. Citadel is not a good team, but they are considerably improved from many years of being purely awful. A sure sign of that is the fact they won back-to-back road games for the first time in seven years, and have now won three in a row. They are actually playing with confidence. We look for Citadel to han g close in this one and we will grab the points.
