South Carolina has played one of the most difficult schedules in the country. They enter this contest 5-5, but five losses to Baylor (9-1), Clemson (10-0), George Mason (8-3), North Carolina State (6-3) and USC (7-3). These five teams have a combined 40-10 record and are all likely NCAA tourney-bound teams. The fact that two of these losses have been by two points and one point, and none by more than 11 show that this team can stay on the court with anyone. They also own wins over Providence and Penn State. This difficult schedule still shows SC shooting 45%, and 44% from the arc, while allowing just 41% and 30% from the arc. Cincinnati transfer Devan Downey has been exceptional averaging 18.4 points per game, and Georgia Tech transfer Zam Fredick is pouring in 15.4 ppg. Charleston has had to do a lot of traveling, as they have had just one home game, and have to start feeling travel weary. Coach Cremins has to be concerned with defense allowing 47% and 37% from three-point range, which will be their undoing in this one.
