New England at Carolina

Bill Belichick is back to his winning ways in preseason after an uncharacteristic 1-3 record last year. The Patriots have won and covered the first two games, including 37-20 over their Super Bowl opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, last week. Belichick might have another revenge game on his mind as he remembers Carolina's 33-30 win as time expired last October on Graham Gano's 48-yard field goal. Tom Brady looked in midseason form, completing 19-of-26 for 172 yards and two touchdowns against Philadelphia and backup Brian Hoyer also contributed by throwing a TD pass. The Patriots gained 140 yards on the ground on 4.7 yards per carry while holding the Eagles to 43 rushing yards on 16 carries. Belichick improved to 52-43 straight-up in preseason and 46-42-7 ATS. Cam Newton was 9-of-12 for 89 yards and a touchdown and interception in Carolina's 27-20 win over Miami. The problem with the Panthers this week is that they will be missing three starters on the offensive line due to injuries. New England's first team defense gave up no touchdowns against the Eagles and sacked Nick Foles three times. Look for the Patriots to get another win on Friday.
