Sunday night and Monday are often travel days in the NBA with teams returning home from road trips or weekend battles against division rivals saved for network telecasts. In general, NBA teams play an average of 3.5 games in a week since the 82-game regular season was introduced for the 1967-68 campaign.   Tuesday can be one of the slower nights. Despite fewer games than usual, oddsmakers still put up numbers on all the sides and totals. In addition, there are various props picks, moneylines, and team totals attached to each contest, so there are ample wagering opportunities.

Why Use Tuesday Free NBA Picks

Not all NBA teams are built the same way, of course, with various athletic talents and different coaching styles. And as far as the betting odds posted, not all games are analyzed the same way, either. On average, NBA teams play around 13 to 14 back-to-back situations out of 82 games. For most games, they're working on at least one day of rest, but for 20% of the season, they're working on no rest. For handicappers, that brings new dynamics to look at, such as bench quality, injuries, and how many minutes the starters played the previous night.  In addition, teams on long road trips that also are playing in the second of a back-to-back are at even more of a disadvantage than a squad playing back-to-back during a four-game homestand. Finding edges against the Vegas odds requires gathering current information and stats while looking at different factors that teams are dealing with.  Adding Tuesday free NBA picks to your handicapping routine doubles the amount of data to identify in the hunt to locate the weakest odds.

Betting Value in Tuesday Free NBA Picks

Teams often fly home from extended road trips on a Sunday night, have Monday off, and then are back to work Tuesday nights. Playing in front of the home fans is going to be reflected in the betting line, but home court in those situations doesn't have the same impact as most of their home contests.  That's because teams back from long trips are dealing with multiple off-court issues. The players haven't seen their families, kids, or girlfriends for a while, so coming home on Monday is an emotional situation for the players.  Add to this the jetlag and travel they've been experiencing over the last week and one day of rest isn't a lot of time to get mentally and physically prepared to play at a 100% level for a Tuesday night game. Team prop totals can have value in these situations, too. Basketball shooting, passing, and scoring is about timing. Players home from road treks aren't always in sync in that first game back, presenting betting opportunities UNDER the team total.

Back-to-Back

Fast break NBA action is fun to watch but difficult to play. Athletes have to run up and down the court for 82 games over several months - and that doesn't even count the postseason. Players use the time between games to recoup. Coaches know when to push a team hard in practice and when to back off or even give the group a breather.   It's a difficult balancing act made even more challenging when NBA teams have to play back-to-back nights. This is where bench strength helps a team and a limited bench can be detrimental. It's common to see teams playing the second of a back-to-back, or their third game in four nights, wilt in the fourth quarter.   In addition, big men can play a physical, bruising game in the low post one night, and then have to play the very next night - no easy task. Factor all of these things in when handicapping NBA games, especially when the team playing the second of a back-to-back is favored.

Turnovers

NBA turnovers happen for two reasons. One is that the starting point guard who touches the basketball the most may give the team a lot of positive things in many areas, but is prone to coughing it up more than the coach wants. Turnovers drive coaches crazy and hurts even more if the coach doesn't have a backup point guard that takes better care of the ball.   The other is the defense. Who is the team playing that night? A team that causes a lot of turnovers has a plan of attack on defense to make it happen. The full-court press is designed to disrupt an offense and cause turnovers. Other times, guards and forward might have limitations on offense but they've made it to the top of the basketball chain by being heady or ferocious defensive players.  Coaches love players like that, knowing they can throw them in to limit the opponent from scoring or getting some easy transition baskets off turnovers. Check the stat sheets for the number of turnovers a team makes and a second look at the assist-to-turnover ratio of their point guards.  It's a plus if you're backing a team against the spread that limits turnovers. And it's very frustrating late in a game when the team you back is around the point spread, but they're sloppy with the basketball.

Undervalued Totals

While NBA totals don't get as much interest as sides, they do attract big-money Wise Guys. That's one reason you see totals move further from the opening line than sides. If the total moves 2, 3, or 4 points, take a closer look at the game.  It's a sign that some serious players are moving in. Also, team totals are even more overlooked. Team totals are set very close to their season scoring average, but a team can be primed in several areas to have a big offensive night and sail far over their season average.  That would happen if they play an uptempo style and are rested facing a team playing its third game in four nights. Or, if they're playing a terrible defensive team. Another area is rebounding. A team that takes a lot of high percentage shots in the low post can be projected to have a very good shooting night if they're facing a poor defensive rebounding squad.

All the betting angles mentioned above are a part of my daily handicapping routine - along with a whole lot more. To win at sports betting one needs to sift through data and information daily to keep up on all the teams and situations. It's also essential to make your own numbers or power rankings to calculate approximately what the projected odds will be.  That takes a lot of time and experience, so for newcomers just examine other power rankings out there. But I have my own from a database that stretches back many years. It's all geared to finding the best wagering odds and opportunities on the card. Getting on board with Free NBA Picks subscription service will help you learn the craft of handicapping while playing alongside a pro.
