Top pick: #2 (HALO RAE) (9-5) - The probable favorite, nicel-bred filly was well-backed when debuting at Hollywood Park last May 2nd for trainer Bob Baffert. Daughter of "Afleet Alex" broke slowly, pressed the pace, and held to finish third of six. Claimed that day by Jeff Metz for $50K, she hasn't raced since and returns today for a $5000 tag. There are obvious "red" flags, but they just might want to pick up a purse and have her claimed away.
2nd pick: #8 (Jail House Rock) (4-1) - Wash-bred has been competitive in all four starts and two back ran second here facing males for a slightly higher tag. Latest saw her race evenly after breaking from the rail and the move out in the gate should lead to a better effort.
3rd pick: #1 (Flashy Carline) (7-2) - Grey mare has raced evenly in all four starts facing tougher and will be dropping down to the local bottom for maiden claimers. She has the rail, fits on figures, and has more early speed than most. In the mix.
4th pick: #7 (Janie Babe) (15-1) - Nice effort last out saw her race evenly while finishing 5th of 10, beaten just over three lengths. Fits, stretches out a furlong, and longshot must be left in the mix.
