Top pick: #10 (MATZOH BALL MAGIC) (4-1) - He's stretching out in distance and dropping down a notch in price. Gelding enters off a troubled fourth place finish at Los Alamitos going 5.5-furlongs on Sept. 19. It was his first since last Dec., and he's since come back with a solid half-mile drill. Gets a slight edge.
nd pick: #4 (The Twelfth Man) (5-2) - Speedy sort just failed to hold on when making his debut on Sept. 12 at Los Alamitos. He's worked since and runs off a private trainer switch to Pete Miller. Grey gelding is a win candidate.
rd pick: #8 (Militant) (3-1) - Lightly raced 3yo has a speed/stalking style and has been competitive in his first pair facing tougher. Working nicely for this, and it's Joe Steiner off and Raf Bejarano on.
th pick: #6 (Warrensbrotherbill) (12-1) - Strong finisher is stretching out in distance after a career best last out at Los Alamitos. He's worked fast since and was beaten 5 1/2 lengths by "The Twelfth Man" on Sept. 12. May grab a share at a big price.
th pick: #9 (Shock Wave) (20-1) - Longshot was away slowly from a tough outside post in his latest, and race is best viewed as a "toss." Improving prior to that, and he had a sharp work here five days ago.
