Top pick: #9 (READY FOR MORE) (3-1) - Veteran was a very impressive winner here at this trip facing weaker on Jan. 12th in his first since Nov. 7th. It was a career best, and 6yo was claimed that afternoon by Mike Mitchell for $62.5K. He brings him back in two weeks, worked him on the 20th, and gelding by "More Than Ready" is the top pick.
2nd pick: #6 (El Commodore) (7-2) - Old-timer has spent most of his career on the grass (31-6-7-5), and last out he just missed here at this distance in the "Daytona" stakes (G3) on Dec. 28th. In great shape at present, and speed/stalker should be involved from start-to-finish.
3rd pick: #4 (Boat Trip) (4-1) - No speed type has gone 11-5-1-2 on the turf, and is 3-1-1-0 here at this famous "down the hill" 6.5-furlong distance. 5yo by "Harlan's Holiday" should get a fast and/or contested pace to close into, and is a stretch threat.
4th pick: #8 (Ankenny Hill) (10-1) - He enters with two gate-to-wire wins over softer at Hollywood, and has clearly been a different horse since switching to the turf. Speedball gets a "class" test this afternoon, but has a pair of back-to-back bullet works that suggest he's ready to take them as far as he can. "Live" longshot.
