Top pick: #8 (EDDIE'S FIRST) (8-5) - Much improved since coming off a five month layoff on April 9, he enters off a career best when finishing second here at this level going a mile April 26. That earned him the highest "figure" of any that have started, and he should beat these with a repeat of it.
2nd pick: #4 (Smart Journey) (5-2) - Lightly raced 5yo showed good early speed last out, and was only beaten 2 1/2 lengths racing here at this level and distance. It was his first race in almost 13 months and first for trainer Mark Glatt. Dangerous with any improvement.
3rd pick: #5 (Aftermarketslam) (7-2) - Golden gate shipper chased a fast pace and held to finish second there when debuting in a sprint on the "Tapeta" surface April 12. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has worked him three times here since then and switches him to the turf.
4th pick: #1 (Otto's Echo) (9-2) - Debuting 4yo has some fine works on view and is bred for turf success. The a.m. drills indicate he has speed, and he can factor if ready.
