Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (BRONZE AGE) (5-1) - Stretch out sprinter has tired in both sprints at this level. He showed good early speed in each before tiring and $600,000 son of 'Mineshaft' enters of a fast work Feb. 13. Trainer Mark Bob Baffert is having a solid meet and wins at a 25% rate on the stretch out in distance.
2nd pick: #3 (Glacier) (3-1) - He's an uncoupled barn-mate of 'Bronze Age' as both are trained by Bob Baffert. This colt by .Broken Vow' cost a whopping $1,200,000 as a 2-year-old in training last April. He's been competitive in two straight here at this level and distance on the grass and continues to train above average on the main track.
3rd pick: #4 (Pavelski) (6-1) - Longshot is another switching from turf to dirt. He improved last out to finish three lengths behind 'Glacier' and in his previous start he ran evenly when debuting on the local dirt.
4th pick: #7 (Surf Shack) (10-1) - Son of 'Malibu Moon' cost $400,000 when sold as a yearling at Saratoga in August of 2015. He made up some ground when debuting in a Del Mar sprint July 24 and has been on the sidelines since. Working nicely and it seems like all of trainer Keith Desormeaux's horses handle wet tracks.
