Top pick: #1 (BRAVE ACT) (5-2) - He's the main speed in this contest and will go dirt to turf after a near miss here at this level and distance on the main track Jan. 9. Race was a career best and came off an 80 day freshening. Has the rail, has run well on the grass in the past, and Bejarano stays aboard.
2nd pick: #7 (Do Some Magic) (3-1) - Lightly-raced home-bred by "Bertrando" missed by a half-length racing here at this level and trip on Jan. 23. By far a career best and he's a win threat this afternoon.
3rd pick: #5 (Mahogany Run) (5-1) - He races first off a John Sadler claim (a 20% winning angle) and he was never involved in his well-backed debut after a terrible start. New barn moves him up in class, switches him to the grass, and stretches him out in distance.
4th pick: #3 (Mr Lemon Tree) (3-1) - He's finished second in three of four grass starts and did so here at this level going "down the hill" Jan. 31. Working fine since, but Bejarano opts for "Brave Act."
