Top pick: #2 (SAFARI ARTIE) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, he moves up a bit in class after a hard-fought win here at this trip on July 8th when racing for a $7500 tag. It was his best since coming off a pair of layoffs in mid-May and this runner was once a classier type. In a winning barn (Jamie Ness) and this lightly-raced 6-year-old is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #3 (Outlaw Kelly) (5-2) - Veteran has a fine local record 15-4-5-0 and is stretching out in distance and dropping in class after his second back from a 9 1/2 month layoff. He raced evenly without threatening in his return sprint facing better and has won the last two times he raced near this price.
3rd pick: #5 (Quiet and Foxy) (6-1) - Gelding is racing first off a Dale Capuano claim and was a winner here two back facing weaker. Strong finisher made up some ground in his latest and Capuano moves him up a bit in price for this attempt.
4th pick: #1 (Jacumba) (7-2) - No-speed type almost makes a late run and ships in from Penn National where he rallied to finish second going a mile on the grass July 10th. He's won here before and is rounding to his best form after returning from a seven month vacation in late May.
