Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer (19% second time out) and 16% off of long layoffs, drops him in class and has him working fast for his return. Three-year-old gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Taste's Legend) (4-1) - He missed by a 'nose' at Del Mar going 5.5 furlongs for a $20,000 claiming price Nov. 17. Competitive in three of his last four, he should love the long stretch here and I almost made him the top selection.
3rd pick: #2 (Vegas Itch) (8-1) - NEW gelding is dropping in class and runs with blinkers off. He raced evenly facing tougher in a Del Mar grass sprint Nov. 18 in his first start in a year and think he can grab a share at a big price.
4th pick: #6 (Rak City) (5-1) - Debuting gelding is from a top barn (Phil D'Amato) and he's worked him five times since Nov 12. Looks well prepared and is a threat if ready.
