HORSE
GULFSTREAM PARK Race #FIVE
February 7, 2007
3:15 PM Eastern
(#12) after wide pace pressing journey. Moves to the hedge today, which is actually the first time he's ever been inside in three starts on turf. Has a trio of sharp works at Palm Meadows since last effort and maybe will finally show why colt cost $300,000 as a yearling. Trainer Mike Hushion annually wins a few on the grass here at Gulfstream.
(# 8) Dram - Son of Menifee trained by Nick Zito may be the fastest of all the "dirt" horses trying the grass for the first time. Has a pretty good turf work leading into this and think he'll try and take them all the way. Zito's turf numbers are poor to say the least, but on the positive side, he and Cornelio are quite good when teamed up.
(# 9) Sweet Brush - Probable favorite ran second in only race to date in the same race The Cuban Hawk competed in defeating that rival by 3 lengths. "Brush moves towards outside and "Hawk" secures the hedge, that is a significant post position change. Blinkers go on Pletcher barn runner (who is trained by Tony Sciametta) while the boss serves out his suspension.
(# 's 2,5,12) Ab. Return, Maddy's Crowd (John's Song) - For small exacta bottoms.
The Plays: $5 to win and place on #1.
$4 exacta boxes on 1-8 and 1-9.
$2 exacta boxes on 1-2, 1-5, 1-12.
Total Wager = $38.00.
