Top pick: #7 (THE WUGGIS) (8-5) - The morning line favorite, she's stretching out in distance after a pair of back-to-back second-place finishes at this tag going 6-furlongs. Speed/stalker is in shape following her return from a 9 1/2 month layoff June 15th and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #3 (No Defense) (2-1) - Mare enters off a solid try on the Santa Rosa dirt at this level and distance Aug. 9. She tracked, bid to a short lead, then was passed in the final strides to miss by a "nose." Very dangerous with a repeat of that effort.
3rd pick: #1 (La Sugar Rose) (5-1) - No-speed type has made up a lot of ground in four of her last six starts and has finished third in each of those. Only two back of "No Defense" last out and she'll be finishing strongly again today.
4th pick: #6 (Chloe's Rider) (12-1) - Lightly-raced filly is showing some signs of improvement and is attempting a two-turn distance for the first time. May grab a share of this at a big price.
