Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (DUKE'S UP) (7-2) - He rallied to miss by a 'head' here at this level and distance Aug. 11. It was his first back on the West Coast following a pair of good efforts at Indiana Downs. Gets a small edge here.
2nd pick: #2 (Excavation) (5-1) - 3yo moves back to the dirt after a close up 4th place finish at this level on the local grass course Aug. 27. Sharp in three of five on the dirt prior to that, I like that trainer Peter Miller brings him back in eight days for this attempt. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Go Ghetto) (10-1) - Well bred 4yo is facing winners for the first time. He looked sharp when breaking his maiden here at this distance for a $20K tag Aug. 17. He's been a much better horse since blinkers went on three back and is a threat at a big price.
4th pick: #7 (Popular Kid) (5-1) - Cal bred switches from turf to dirt after a pair of narrow misses on the grass while facing weaker. Capable on the dirt, he enters in career best form.
