Top pick: #12 (GISELE'S AT FONZ'S) (9-2) - Home bred by "Swiss Yodeler" will be racing for the first time since May 3rd after an even fourth place finish that day at this level on the Santa Anita dirt. Working fine for her return, stalker has been competitive facing tougher in the past and can take this if ready.
nd pick: #4 (Keepherinthedark) (6-1) - Price play hasn't raced since late November and will be dropping down into a claimer for the first time. Training nicely for her return and trainer Mark Glatt has her spotted where she's a win candidate off the nine month layoff.
rd pick: #7 (Take it Slowly) (10-1) - Bred for speed, she was heavily bet here July 17th, but showed little while running very wide. Claimed that day by John Sadler for $20k, he's worked her four times since and brings her back almost six weeks later at the purchase price. New barn wins at a 21% clip first off the claim.
th pick: #10 (Nero's Pleasure) (5-1) - Filly is dropping a bit in class and shortening up in distance for this attempt. Working fine and she'll be trying to rally from off the pace at this shorter trip.
th pick: #1 (Covey) (7-2) - One of two entered by trainer Ron Ellis and the veteran conditioner has had a strong meet 23-7-1-4. This filly was bet down to favoritism when debuting on the Los Alamitos dirt July 13th. The field was small (5) and she rallied to finish second following a slow break. She has the rail, goes dirt to "poly," and drops a bit in class for a 23% second out barn.
