Top pick: #10 (FOREST ROMANCE) (3-1) - Lightly-raced colt rallied to finish fourth here at this price tag on July 18th. It was his first since May 26th at Santa Anita when he was claimed by John Sadler for $20K. Four-year-old had some early traffic issues last out and is brought back quickly for this attempt. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #8 (Superboot) (5-2) - Speedy Irish import was involved in a spirited duel here at this tag going 6-furlongs on July 18th and held gamely to finish a distant second to a "much the best" winner. In shape and trainer Pete Miller will shorten him up just a bit. Must be considered a win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Storm the Havens) (5-1) - Gelding comes off a career best when he chased while wide and held gamely to run second at this tag and trip on July 3rd at Los Alamitos. Nice effort came off an eight month layoff and 3-year-old has worked twice here since then. Must be left in the win mix.
4th pick: #6 (Tribal Mystery Man) (7-2) - He was a much-improved horse last out in his first off a Bob Diodoro claim. Gelding by "Tribal Rule" broke on top and set the pace until mid-stretch when he weakened while drifting out. Barn brings him back quickly and shortens him up 1.5-furlongs.
