Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (CANDY WOMPUS) (7-2) - He was a winner here at this tag and trip July 6 in his second back following a nine-month layoff. The 4yo had rallied strongly to finish a close-up 3rd in his return sprinting June 11, and this grey gelding gets a slim edge.
2nd pick: #4 (May We All) (2-1) - Lightly raced and consistent, this state-bred has spent his entire career here going 11-3-2-2, all on the dirt. He missed by a 'head' here at this tag traveling six furlongs July 13 in his second back off nine months on the sidelines. 4yo has plenty of speed, has won at this distance in the past, and is a strong win candidate. I could have easily made him the top selection.
3rd pick: #2 (Vix Vision) (9-2) - This veteran moves up a bit in price following a pair of competitive local efforts at this mile distance. The Oklahoma-bred has been at this 3l condition a very long time, but has a ground-saving post and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #5 (Kris Me Deadly) (6-1) - This Iowa-bred has good early speed and stretches back out after tiring in a sprint at Prairie Meadows on July 5. It was his first since a gate-to-wire win at this trip April 21 at Will Rogers Downs. The lightly raced 5yo must avoid an early tussle with 'May We All' to have any shot at winning this.
